Join us this week for a live conversation with Chris Stott, CEO of Lonestar Data Holdings, the company leading the charge in building data storage infrastructure on the Moon.
Lonestar made headlines earlier this year after their 8TB SSD was flown aboard Intuitive Machines' Athena lunar lander, successfully completed its data transmission and telemetry milestones, even after the lander tipped on its side. Despite the early end to the mission, Lonestar demonstrated that lunar computing is no longer a concept for the future.
Come hear Chris share what it took to get a working server to the Moon, what they learned from the mission, and what’s next for space-based infrastructure.
Join us live this week: Thursday at 3pm Eastern. Bring your questions.
The end of Q2 is rapidly approaching, which means that it is almost time again for MoonDAO's quarterly retroactive rewards cycle. Every quarter, we reward the top projects and contributors during the previous quarter with ETH and vMOONEY rewards.
Of the total reward pool, 10% is set aside for Community Contributions, where independent contributions from Citizens in the Space Acceleration Network get rewarded for work that helps advance our mission.
Have you been working on a space project or trying to advance humanity's multiplanetary future?
Last week, we shared news about the upcoming Ax-4 mission to the International Space Station, but just hours before liftoff, the launch was delayed due to a liquid oxygen leak in the Falcon 9 booster.
That alone might have merited a short delay, but soon after, a more serious concern emerged: a pressure drop was detected inside the ISS’s Russian Zvezda module, where the Ax-4 crew was set to stay. This module has a history of small air leaks, but the new readings raised fresh safety concerns, prompting NASA and Axiom to postpone the mission while investigating.
After further monitoring and repairs, air pressure in the affected section has stabilized, and the Falcon 9 booster has also passed its final tests. The mission was rescheduled to launch today, June 18, but has been pushed once again with a new target launch date of June 22.
Last week, SpaceX hit a major milestone with its 500th Falcon rocket mission, launching 26 more Starlink satellites into low Earth orbit from Vandenberg on June 12. This flight brings the total number of active Starlink satellites to over 7,600, further expanding global internet coverage, including emerging direct-to-cell capabilities.
The Falcon 9 booster used (B1081) made its 15th successful landing on the droneship Of Course I Still Love You. With 72 Falcon 9 launches already in 2025, SpaceX is on pace for another record setting year.
The Pope and James Webb
In a rare intersection of science and faith, Pope Leo XIV praised NASA’s James Webb Space Telescope during an event at the Vatican Observatory, calling it a “truly remarkable instrument” that reveals the “sublime complexity” of God’s creation.

He described this as an exciting time for astronomy, where ancient starlight and images of distant galaxies stir “mysterious joy” and offer a glimpse into cosmic creation once only imagined by the authors of sacred scripture. Urging scientists to share that wonder widely, the Pope highlighted how discoveries like Webb’s can inspire unity, deepen our sense of purpose, and contribute to building a more peaceful and just world.
