Blue Origin announced its eighth human flight, NS-26, will lift off from Launch Site One in West Texas on Thursday, August 29. The launch window opens at 8:00 AM CDT / 1300 UTC. What This Mission Means

Dr. Eiman Jahangir will be going to space in just a few days.

This has been nearly three years in the making.

It's a HUGE moment for MoonDAO. MoonDAO started in 2021 as a crazy idea to have the internet send someone to space.

We didn't know where we'd purchase tickets. We didn't know if we would raise enough money. Or even how we'd select the winner. We just thought it would be fun.

On that cold December night in 2021 a small community of people tried to unite the internet to send someone to space. At the time we were deep into COVID, and things were bleak. We hoped this optimistic mission could unite people.

Within one lunar cycle a we had a huge and unexpected response: Over 2,000 people from all over the world contributed, and we raised over 2,600 Ethereum. This was the first time ever that a space mission was crowd funded.

If you listen to early SpaceX talks with Elon, he brought up the idea of funding missions via crowd raises, but ultimately said there's just not enough money. However in the era of crypto, we proved that this is a viable path, and it will continue to be increasingly viable. Even people like CZ from Binance has said "space exploration shall be funded globally using crypto."

MoonDAO has proven this is possible, and will continue to lead the way in funding larger and larger space missions, eventually to the Moon.

Humanity invented the joint-stock company to fund the development of overseas settlements and trade-routes, today we're creating new types of organizations to fund space travel.

What we're most proud of though, is that we were able to do this while still retaining the core principles and values of a DAO. This is extremely difficult. If we had just sent someone to space as a company, and did all of our operations behind closed doors this would not have been that hard.

However, we decided to have the community run everything. We vote on EVERY outflow of our treasury, have a Constitution for decentralized governance, use transparent finances so anyone can audit our work. We discuss everything as a community. Want to steal our ideas? Okay. But you can never steal our community. This is what makes MoonDAO resilient long term - our moat is our people.

We've overcome all kinds of crazy obstacles to get to this point. The bear market killed 95%+ of DAOs. We survived. We built a strong and resilient system that has guided us through uncharted territory. Today we're stronger than ever.

Doing things in a decentralized way is really hard. People didn't think it was possible -- but MoonDAO proved it is possible.

Now MoonDAO has 28,000+ users in our discord, 12,000 token holders, funded over 60 on-chain community projects (in a system we designed), executed on 151 proposals, voted to fund millions of dollars in research, exploration, and development.

We've developed next generation DAO tooling in-house and are now launching a new platform to bring more space companies into MoonDAO to help them launch their own missions.

We proved that the internet can do this.

It took a lot to navigate this path, but now we can look back with pride on what we made possible - and lead the way for others to do the same.

This is what Dr. Eiman Jahangir's launch means to MoonDAO.

Eiman is living proof that we can make dreams a reality.

He has spent over 20 years working to become an Astronaut, and in one week his dream will come true.
